NEW YORK (March 2005)—Buttons New York and Zilo Networks have inked a deal that will have Buttons producing audio as well as video for Zilo’s project “Major Misbehavior”, a show about campus cops and college student mischief. Zilo will offline as well as online the shows in Buttons’ Oak Suite with Final Cut Pro HD, and include a final mix on ProTools HD2 from the Padauk Suite, delivering DigiBeta air masters directly to Court TV.

Buttons owner and chief engineer Rich Macar worked directly with Zilo’s, Campbell McClaren, to come up with ways to best serve the network. Macar has introduced them to onlining on the FCP4 system, continuing Buttons’ cutting edge philosophy. Buttons has utilized this production/finishing approach successfully in projects for Success Television, Bovis Lease Lenders, and FedEx. The reaction has been overwhelmingly positive and mutually supportive in attaining both parties ultimate goal. Zilo’s production group also supports a college television network and is talking with Macar about utilizing his services for their work on this, as well.

After “Major Misbehavior” passes through Court TV’s quality control department, the ultimate test of this new finishing approach providing quality picture with FCPHD and quality sound from ProTools HD2, Zilo will continue at Buttons, should Court TV green light a series. Zilo embraces the result of saving time and money and still achieving high quality picture and sound in one package.

Macar relishes the opportunity to work hand in hand with Zilo Network decision makers. This access has afforded Buttons the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of production and help guide Zilo to the best approach in meeting their production needs. With Macar’s previous experience in production and audio design for CourtTV, he was the natural choice to spearhead Zilo’s projects from the production standpoint.
